Andrew Hoyal became a member of the Luvera Law Firm in 1999, focusing on product-liability cases against pharmaceutical companies. Previously, he practiced in Tennessee for 12 years, primarily trying civil rights cases in federal court. Hoyal has extensive appellate experience in state and federal appeals courts, in addition to working as a staff attorney for the Tennessee Supreme Court for three years.
Since arriving in Washington in 1992, Hoyal has practiced personal injury law, exclusively on the plaintiff’s side, and has tried successful products liability cases in both state and federal court in Washington. Hoyal was the principal author of the winning briefs on behalf of injured plaintiffs in two Washington Supreme Court cases, Schooley v. Pinch’s Deli Inc., 134 Wn.2d 468 (1998), and Godfrey v. Hartford Casualty Insurance Co., 142 Wn.2d 885 (2001).
Hoyal is a member of the Washington State Trial Lawyers’ Association, and has lectured at Washington State Trial Lawyers seminars on dram shop liability in Washington. He is admitted to practice in Washington, Tennessee, and Georgia (inactive), as well as the United States Supreme Court, and federal courts in Washington and Tennessee.
After graduating with high honors from the University of Tennessee, Hoyal earned a master’s from the University of Chicago Divinity School. He received his juris doctorate from Vanderbilt University in 1980.
Hoyal was born in Nashville, Tenn. in 1953. He and his wife live in Seattle, and have one son.
